Santa

It's my first Santa!
On the last night of the Doane Experience, I took an Impromptu Santa class from Dave Stetson & Michele Carville-Stetson. I didn't quite finish, but very cool, very fast-paced class.

I'll have to do more of these, they're fun.

Grumpy Bob

Grumpy Bob, collection of Corrie Lisk-Hurst.

I really don't remember what year I did this guy; probably '91 or so.

He, uh, used to be a girl. Started life as a Sadie, but I didn't feel like carving a Sadie, so snip snip boom, there's grumpy Bob.

That may explain the grumpiness.

Professor Sam

First post!
So once in a while I'll try and update this blog with some of my woodcarvings, past, present, and future.

This is Professor Sam, carved during a week-long caricature class at the Doane Woodcarving Experience in Crete, NE.
Dave Stetson's class is always a great place to learn new stuff, to stretch my abilities. The Professor here is notable because I actually finished him during class (as opposed to the previous two years). I learned a lot about painting with this guy...hopefully I'll be able to remember it all, and expand upon it. There's always more to learn...

Here's the rest of the pics:
